At Sunnybank all students attend Health and Physical Education classes with a specialist teacher, timetabled for 30 minutes each week. They participate in a range of learning experiences focused on learning about health and physical movement.

Prep - Year 2 students PE

Students in the lower years learn how to demonstrate fundamental movement skills in a variety of situations while investigating alternatives to solve movement challenges all while demonstrating positive ways to interact with others.

Prep - Year 2 students Health

Students identify different settings where they can play safely and identify and describe the different emotions people experience. Students learn to identify how emotional responses impact on others’ feelings and select and apply strategies to keep themselves safe and ask for help with tasks or problems.

Year 3 - Year 6 students PE

Students in the upper years learn how to perform specialised movement skills while demonstrating fair play and skills to work collaboratively. They combine these movement concepts and strategies to achieve movement outcomes and to solve movement challenges.

Year 3 - Year 6 students Health

Students learn how to recognise strategies for managing change. They interpret the Australian guide to healthy eating and discuss the influence of health messages on healthy choices. They use decision-making skills to select strategies to stay healthy and active. Students describe their own and others’ contribution to health and wellbeing. Students access and interpret health information and apply decision making skills to enhance their own and others’ health and wellbeing.
